Instinct Hockey is a local hockey program founded and led by former junior hockey players Bryson Kelloway and Carter Watkins.
Our Philosophy
Our program revolves around the holistic development of hockey players, fostering both the physical and mental attributes required to succeed at any level. Under the guidance of Coach Bryson, Coach Carter and their team of qualified experienced instructors, Instinct Hockey will provide intense training programs that emphasize skill repetition, required corrections, and in-game situational applications.
Our goal is to develop versatile hockey players, equipped with a diverse skill set and the mental abilities to apply these skills effectively during gameplay. At Instinct Hockey, we are not just shaping players; we’re developing smart, well-rounded competitors poised for success on the ice and beyond.

Head Instructor
Bryson Kelloway
Coach Bryson is one of the Head Instructors at Instinct Hockey. He played 5 years of Junior hockey between the Port Hope Panthers and the Clarington Eagles of the PJHL. During this time, Bryson has pursued his post-secondary education at Trent University, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Studies. Bryson has continued his career in hockey as a Head Coach, winning Coach of the Year Award in 2025, an OMHA championship during the 2022-23 season, and now serves as the Head Coach for the Clarington Toros U12 AA team for the upcoming season.
Head Instructor
Carter Watkins
Coach Carter is one of the Head Instructors at Instinct Hockey. He grew up playing for the Newcastle Stars and Clarington Toros minor hockey associations, winning an OMHA Championship in his U18 season with the Toros. Carter also spent 3 years playing Junior hockey for the Clarington Eagles in the PJHL. During this time, Carter graduated from Durham College with a degree in Business Fundamentals. Carter has continued his career in hockey serving as an Assistant Coach in the Clarington Toros organization and will be working with the U12 AA team for the upcoming season.
